The Exceptionals: How The Best Become The Best And How You Can Too by Kumar Mehta

he Exceptionals by Kumar Mehta is about the 0.1% of people who reach incredible heights and prove their mettle in their field of interest.  I liked the instances where the author shared interesting facts on how to grow in life. The book not only motivates you to follow your dreams but also directs you to achieve exceptional performance and excellence. Though it’s a self-help guide, I actually had fun reading this book. It’s well organized. The book essentially chalks out the blueprint to go from good to great in life. It discusses the case studies of excellent individuals such as Phelps, Usain Bolt, etc. and shares how they went about achieving envious success. These people worked hard to become exceptional and leave an indelible imprint on the world.

The book breaks down the characteristics of outstanding individuals who achieved sustained excellence:
– innate abilities
– environment
– belief
– teamwork
– micro excellence
– focus
– intense effort
– dream big

I like how the author has been very precise with his content in this book. It talks about the focal point i.e. to become exceptional and sticks to it till the end. It helps you learn a lot about yourself and bring your best self out in this world. The real life examples that author provided every now and then made the book interesting. For my nonfiction book of the month I was looking for an inspirational self-improvement book and after reading this book´s description I was immediately drawn to it. This book became one of my favorite non-fiction books of all time. I have read a lot of non-fiction books that have good ideas but have trouble presenting them to the reader, this was definitely not the case. The author knew what he wanted to teach the reader and in my opinion he achieved it beautifully.

This book motivated me to want to be better, it made me want to work harder and set specific goals. Overall, I was blown away by this book, it was impactful, concise and extremely motivated and I highly recommend it to everyone who is looking for that small push to make their dreams come true and excel at everything they do.
